Renaissance Charter School at Wellington Elementary School student, Shayleen, has plenty of talent! She is among five national grand prize winners in the 2016/17 Preferred Meals “Healthy Breakfast for a Healthier Me!” Art Contest. Shayleen winning design will be at a surprise assembly held at the school on Friday May 19th. She will be recognized and honored by special guest Jessica Gorlicky aka JessGo.

Preferred Meals, who provides school meals to Renaissance Charter School at Wellington, created the art contest and nutrition plan program in 2012 to educate children and support healthy eating. The contest, available to students in the 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades, provides nutrition education and promotes creativity in a fun and imaginative way.

Winners are selected based on originality of design, theme, message clarity and artistic merit by a special judging committee. First and second place winners will see their art featured throughout their school meal program and Preferred Meals’ communications in the upcoming 2017/2018 school year.
